So about 2 weeks ago, I came home from the best weekend of the summer, Steubenville NYC. This conference was held at St. John’s University in Queens and was hosted by Franciscan University and LifeTeen International. I knew this weekend was going to be very long considering I had to be up at 5:15 Friday morning to leave by 6 am. My youth group and I were surprised by our former priest who was spending the weekend with us. The bus ride up was a lot of fun because we played Head’s Up and made a really cool handshake. The worst part was walking from the soccer field to our dorms. The girl took us the really (I mean REALLY) long way.
The Friday night talks were amazing. I loved Leah Darrow‘s talk about the shepard and Ike Ndolo, our musician for the weekend, was amazing. Then we went to our dorms for the night and bonded with other girls. Our women’s session on was done by Leah and I was really moved by it as well as the girls next to and around me. After, we had Saturday morning Mass with Cardinal Dolan and a 10 minute adoration. Cardinal Dolan gave a great homily. Next we had free time in which myself and two of my friends found a spot by where our lunch was and napped and played the ukelele until lunch and entertainment. Entertainment was a lot of and was held by Paul J. Kim who is incredibly talented and funny.
The session after was given by Mark Hart and I may have freaked out a little not going to lie since we were sitting front row. His talk was all about keeping God’s love alive in us. Then dinner where we had “open nic night” and were just having some bonding time. That was followed by adoration which was amazing for everyone (especially my youth group). Sunday, we mostly chilled until the last session and Mass. The last session was given by Fr. Parks and he talked about how God is Love and how our spiritual address never changes. Now we are home and after this Steubenville I feel really changed and more open to God’s love.
